Epsom Salt Bath with Essential Oils
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) or Dead Sea salts
2 drops eucalyptus globulus
2 drops ginger
2 drops lavender
Directions:
Mix the essential oils with the salt and add to bath water after you have finished filling the bathtub. Swirl around to gently agitate bath water a bit before getting in. Relax and enjoy for up to 20 minutes.
The above bath salt recipe should help to relax and soothe tired and sore muscles. Use in the evening or at night before going to bed. We’ve had reports that it also works great for those body aches that accompany the flu. The magnesium (from the Epsom salts) and lavender combination are very likely to make you feel relaxed and sleepy.
Alternatively, instead of the essential oil blend above, you can just use up to 5 drops of lavender which is wonderful on its own.
Epsom salts have been long used as a treatment for muscle aches and as a soaking aid for minor sprains and bruises.
Caution: Salt baths are not recommended for those with high blood pressure or a heart or kidney condition. Please seek the advice and guidance of your doctor if under medical care for any condition or if you have any concerns. Also be sure to visit the individual essential oil profiles by clicking the name of the essential oils above and the Safety and Usage section.
